Dear Readers,
That last letter has got me all worked up for Christmas. It makes me think of my favorite Christmas carol, The Twelve Days of
Christmas. Here are the lyrics in case any of you need a refresher:
On the first day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
A chicken in a chicken tree.
On the second day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree.
On the third day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Three Cornish hens,
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree.
On the fourth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Four broiled birds,
Three Cornish hens,
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree.
On the fifth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Five golden wings,
Four broiled birds,
Three Cornish hens,
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree.
On the sixth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Six geese pate-ing,
Five golden wings,
Four broiled birds,
Three Cornish hens,
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree.
On the seventh day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Seven turkeys frying,
Six geese pate-ing,
Five golden wings,
Four broiled birds,
Three Cornish hens,
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree.
On the eighth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Eight breasts a-braising,
Seven turkeys frying,
Six geese pate-ing,
Five golden wings,
Four broiled birds,
Three Cornish hens,
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree.
On the ninth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Nine pheasants grilling,
Eight breasts a-braising,
Seven turkeys frying,
Six geese pate-ing,
Five golden wings,
Four broiled birds,
Three Cornish hens,
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree
On the tenth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Ten legs for lunching,
Nine pheasants grilling,
Eight breasts a-braising,
Seven turkeys frying,
Six geese pate-ing,
Five golden wings,
Four broiled birds,
Three Cornish hens,
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree.
On the eleventh day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Eleven luscious livers,
Ten legs for lunching,
Nine pheasants grilling,
Eight breasts a-braising,
Seven turkeys frying,
Six geese pate-ing,
Five golden wings,
Four broiled birds,
Three Cornish hens,
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree.
On the twelfth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Twelve drumsticks drumming, (you can never have enough legs)
Eleven luscious livers,
Ten legs for lunching,
Nine pheasants grilling,
Eight breasts a-braising,
Seven turkeys frying,
Six geese pate-ing,
Five golden wings,
Four broiled birds,
Three Cornish hens,
Two roasted doves,
And a chicken in a chicken tree.
