h) Are they prepared for veterinary costs and do they understand that routine veterinary care
can cost several hundred dollars a year?          

Explain to them the necessity to heart worm test a dog and keep it on heart worm prevention.
i) Are they willing to provide proper grooming?  
   i.e nail clipping, ear cleaning, etc            
j) Do they have time to train their dog, if necessary?
k) Where will the dog spend its time?
l) Do the people work?
If yes, what steps will they take to ensure the dog
will not become a nuisance while left alone?
m) Are they aware that there will be a period of adjustment for the new dog, which may   
     result in problem behavior? i.e house breaking, chewing, barking, etc
n) Do they understand the basic nature of a basset hound?
o) Go over BassetC.A.R.E. policies and explain the contract.  Individual dog fees vary
and are shown on the web site.   Explain the one week trial period.     Reviewed policies with applicant?
p) Do you like the people?
